Altamont is a village in Albany County, New York. It is part of the town of Guilderland, and that is within the Albany-Schenectady-Troy Metro Area. It was settled in the mid seventeenth century, and was incorporated in 1890. It has a total area of 1.2 square miles, all of which is land. Two streams cut across the village. The residence of the first mayor is now listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
