Amarillo is the fourteenth most populous cities in the state of Texas. It is said to be the largest in the area of Texas Panhandle. Amarillo serves as the county seat of Potter County. With a total area of about 234 sq. kms., the city is located at an elevated height of 3600 ft. above the ground level. One of the principal employers of the city is the meat packing industry followed by the petroleum sector. The largest employer of them all is Tyson Foods.
The independent school district of Amarillo employs a substantial number of locals. There are a number of social utilities in the town like hospitals and the water supply department, which employs a good number of people from the area. The tourism sector is on the rise, owing to the scenic beauty of the place due to the large number of museums, ponds and waterbodies in the area.
