Brief Information About Amesbury

Amesbury is a city in Essex County, Massachusetts. Though it is officially a city, the formal name remains the "The Town of Amesbury". Its population at the 2010 census was 16,283.

Textile mills, a mechanized nail-making mill (perhaps the nation's first), carriage building factories, all these were present in the nineteenth century. These were adversely affected by the Great Depression.
The city has a number of historic buildings, particularly in the Federal and Victorian styles. Restoration is being carried out for the downtown area.

The population predominantly comrpises White Americans.
