Andover is a town in Merrimack County, New Hampshire. Its population at the 2010 census was 2,371. In addition to the town center, the town comprises the villages of Cilleyville, Potter Place, and East Andover. The Ragged Mountain State Forest and Proctor Academy, a private coeducational preparatory school, are in Andover. The Proctor Academy, established in 1848, is the prestigious institution that is also a major contributor to the local economy. Tourism is also popular here. Attractions include antique shops, Greek Revival architecture, and two covered bridges. Potter Place Railroad Station, built in 1874 by the Northern Railroad, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Now, it serves as a museum for the Andover Historical Society.
