Apex is a town in Wake County, North Carolina. It falls within the Raleigh-Cary Metro Area and is a suburb of Raleigh. It has a total area of 10.6 square miles. 10.5 square miles of the area is land, and the rest is water. Apex was incorporated in 1873, and so named for its highest position on the Chatham Railroad.
A proportion of the population commutes to Raleigh for work, but Apex is also part of the Research Triangle Park, which has a number of top employers such as IBM, Cisco, Fidelity Investments, RTI International and many more. The city has a number of public and private schools. Healthcare is offered in the WakeMed Apex Healthplex. The Raleigh-Durham International Airport is at a distance of 8 miles from the town.
