Arlington with a population of about 2500 is a town in Bennington County, Vermont. Aroun the year 1777, Arlington became the first capital of the Vermont Republic. It  lies in the Valley of Vermont between the Taconic Range to the west and the Green Mountains in the east, with most of its land mass lying in the Taconic Range. Five rominent peaks of Taconic Range are located within the town. They are the Grass Mountain, , The Ball, Red Mountain, Spruce Peak, and Big Spruce Mountain. One of the largest employers in the area is the Orvis company in neighboring Sunderland. A notable school in the area is Arlington Memorial School.
