Athena is a city in Umatilla County, Oregon. It is part of the Pendleton-Hermiston Metro Area, and has a total area of 0.6 square miles, all of which is land. Local names for the settlement included Mud Flats, Yellow Dog, and Squaw Town. Centerville was then selected, but on account of a city by the same name in Washington state, it was changed to Athena.

The Pacific Basin Trading Company designed and assembled Hodaka motorcycles here. Annual meets of former employees and bike enthusiasts are still held here. Educational services, manufacturing and construction are important commercial activities. Weston-McEwen High School  is the local public school. The local airport is the Barrett Field Airport. The closest hospital is St. Anthony Hospital, located about 18 miles away in Pendleton. The cost of living here 6.20% lower than the country average.
