Atoka is a city in and the county seat of Atoka County, Oklahoma. It has a total area of 8.5 square miles, most of which is land. Only 0.71% of the area is water. The city was formally founded in 1867, and flourished due to the presence of the railroad. A number of structures here are listed on the National Register of Historic Places, such as the Atoka Armory Building, the First Methodist Church Building, the Old Masonic Temple Building, the Middle Boggy Battlefield Site and Confederate Museum, and many more.
