Avon is a Home Rule Municipality that is the most populous town in Eagle County, Colorado state. At the 2000 census, its population was estimated to be 5,561.
The town is the gateway to the Beaver Creek Resort which lies about two miles south of the town. It was also the previous site of Vail Resorts before the company moved its physical headquarters to Broomfield in 2006. Liberty Skis, an independent ski manufacturing company, is also based in Avon.
