Awendaw is a town in Charleston County, South Carolina. It is part of the Charleston-North Charleston Metro Area, and has a total area of 8.4 square miles. 8.3 square miles of the area is land, and the rest is water. It is essentially a fishing town. This was initially a Native American settlement, with European migrants coming in later. The town was incorporated in 1992.

Fishing, crabbing and related activities are the major contributors to the local economy. Here, the Blue Crab Festival is held annually. The town also has a couple of skyscrapers, the 609.6 meter high WCSC-Tower and the Media General Tower. The closest hospital is the East Cooper Medical Center, located about 15 miles away in Mount Pleasant. The cost of living here is 4.00% higher than the country average.
