Belton is a city in Anderson County, South Carolina. It is located in the eastern part of the county, and is part of the Anderson Metro Area. It has a total area of 3.8 square miles, all of which is land. The city was settled in the mid nineteenth century, and incorporated in 1855. It is named after the first president of the Columbia and Greenville Railroad. It was formerly a cotton mill town.
