Benedict is a very small city in Wilson County, Kansas, along the Verdigris River. Benedict had its start in the year 1866 by the building of the railroad through that territory and was laid out at the junction of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway and the Missouri Pacific Railroad. It was named for S. S. Benedict.
