A waterside city in the Solano County of California in the US, Benicia is located in the northern region of the San Francisco Bay Area.
The city is divided into the East side, West side, Southampton and the Industrial park. The East and the West sides mostly house very old buildings of the bygone era. Southampton contains primarily housing developments that mostly came up between 1970s and 2000. 
The city has many historic, landmark buildings and attracts boutique shoppers and those seeking small-town historic charm.
Art exhibitions, fairs, parades including music, dance and live entertainment are a hallmark feature of the town. 
Benicia covers an average area of 41 km2 of which 33 km2 is land and the remaining water. 
The 2010 US Census reported Benicia's population at 26,997 with a density of 1717 people per square mile. The racial makeup was reported to be comprised of 72% White, 5.6% Afro-Americans, 0.5% Native Americans, 11% Asians, 0.4% Pacific Islanders, and 3.3% of other races.
Major industries in the area are automotive, construction, car financing and loans, telecommunication, clothing and apparel, computer manufacturing and networking, and health services.
