Bridgeport is a city in Jackson County, Alabama. It is part of the Huntsville-Decatur Combined Statistical Area. It as a total area of 3.2 square miles. 3.1 square miles of it is land and 0.1 square miles of it (4.00%) is water.

The town was initially named Jonesville before being changed to Bridgeport in 1854. It was incorporated in 1891. Bridgeport was a major shipyard building gunboats and transports for the Union Army, during the American Civil War.
