With a total area of about 36 sq. kms., Clarksdale is a city of Coahoma County in the Missisippi State. It has an elevation of about 175 ft. from the ground. The city is named after John Clark, brother in law of politician J.L. Alcorn. There is a plantation home of J.L. Alcorn. Cotton is an important cash crop of the area and its production has increased substantially with the input of new agricultural technologies and increased mechanizations. The community college and public and private schools in the area are also important source of education for its locals. There are also a few museums in the city. Clarksdale is also home to a number of notable people in the area like J.L. Alcorn, W. Brown, Gov. E.L. Brewer and others. Education is also an important source of employment in the area.
