Cordova is a city in Walker County, Alabama. Initially named as "Dent" or "Dent's Place", it was renamed as Cordova by Captain Benjamin M. Long in 1859, named for a city in Mexico. It was initially established as a mill town, which declined in the twentieth century. It has a total area of 5.9 square miles, and 0.84% of the area is water.

The city expects economic growth due to its superior railway connections, the Interstate 22, and its proximity to the Gulf of Mexico. Manufacturing, construction, transport and natural gas extraction are the major economic activities here. Public schooling here is administered by the Walker County Board of Education, which comprises three schools- one elementary, one middle and one high school. The closest hospital is the Walker Baptist Medical Center, located about 12 miles away in Jasper. It also has ten churches of various religious denominations.
