Crested Butte is a Home rule municipality located in the area of Gunnison County. Crested Butte was earlier known as a coal mining town. Now a tourist town, Crested Butte has plenty of oppurtunities in the field adventure tourism. It has a total area of about 1.9 sq. kms. and is located at an elevated height of about 8910 ft. from the ground level. Most of the local inhabitants are primarily involved in tourism in both the summer and the winter months.
