Dadeville is a city in and the county seat of Tallapoosa County, Alabama. It is part of the Alexander City Metro Area. The city is named after Major Francis Langhorne Dade. It was initially incorporated in 1837, disincorporated in 1858, and finally reincorporated in 1878. It has a total area of 16 square miles, all of which is land.
The most significant economic impact on the city is by Lake Martin. Lake Martin is a man-made lake on the Tallapoosa River (created with the construction of the Thomas Wesley Martin Dam) with a hydro-electric dam completed in 1929. It is operated and maintained by Alabama Power, and draws visitors round the year.
