With a total area of about 15 sq. miles, Darien is located within the County of Fairfield. This town is known as the community bedroom. There are a very few office buildings in the town. Most of the residents of the town travel to nearby cities for work. The local residents are economically engaged with education, tourism and other social sectors of the economy. Some of the landmark buildings of the town are Convent of St. Brigitta and the house of F.J. Smith. A number of annual events are held in the town, which helps to bring in a lot of tourists in the area.
