Brief Information About Daviston

Daviston is a town in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. It is part of the Alexander City Metro Area. It is believed to be the first incorporated town in the county, in 1887. It was initially a Native American settlement. It has a total area of 9.2 square miles, 0.11% of which is water, and the rest is land. Improved road and rail services during the late nineteenth and early twentieth century led to the growth of the town with a number of mills and commercial establishments. It is named for its first postmaster, John Davis; the name is thought to be a mistaken version of "Davis Town", but it has remained in use since.

Manufacturing, finance and insurance operations, and transportation are the major economic activities here. Daviston's cost of living is 16.60% lower than the country average, making living here significantly cheaper. The closest hospital is the Clay County Hospital, about 18 miles away in Ashland.

The town gets about 54 inches of rain annually, with about 94 days having measurable precipitation.
