Deering is a small city located in the Northwestern part of the Arctic Borough, in the US state of Alaska. It is located on a sandy spit on the Peninsula of Seward, which is further located beside the Inmachuk river. This river later flows down to the Sound of Kotzebue.
With a total area of about 14 sq. miles, Deering is located at an elevated height of about 7 ft. above the ground level. Most of the local inhabitants are primarily involved with subsistence farming and related activities. Only a handfull of people live here and they are primarily engaged with hunting and gathering. Some are also involved with the service oriented sector.
