East Dublin has one or more state legislators based here. The legislature is what is the state equivalent of the national Congress. It has many different names, varying from state to state. It is usually organized as a bicameral system. Its primary function is legislating, that is introducing, considering, debating and accepting or rejecting laws. Legislators are members of this body. They are representatives of the people in East Dublin and are duty bound to present their needs and opinions on the legislative stage. A system of checks and balances exists at this level as well, much like the federal system.
