East Syracuse has one or more health spas. These are places that aim to rejuvenate and re-energize people, leading them on the path to good health. These are usually destination spas, where one stays for a period of time. They promote health for the clients by a combination of healthy food, fitness and stress reduction activities and lectures and seminars on incorporation of fitness habits in daily life. The food, while healthy, may or may not be organic. Some places offer a calorie-restricted diet, while others have no such restrictions. Wine may be served at dinners in some places, but alcohol as a rule is not available. Sports such as golf, badminton and tennis are played, and fitness activities such as dance, yoga and aerobics are practised under the eyes of an instructor.
