Fayette is a city in and the county seat of Fayette County, Alabama. It has a total area of 8.6 square miles, most of which is land (0.1 square mile is water).
Manfacturing, public administration and construction are the major commercial activities here. The town has a number of factories such as Ox Bodies, which is one of the worlds leading producers of dump truck bodies, Golden Eagle Syrup and Best Glove Manufacturing. Public schooling is administered by Fayette County Schools District, comprising one elementary, one middle and two high schools. Richard Arthur Field Airport is the local airport.
