Salvage yards, also called junkyards, are present in Framingham. These are the places where old and decommissioned vehicles are brought in to be dismantled. Usable parts that can be recovered after dismantling can be sold for use in other vehicles, while the rest of the dismantled material (which is metal) is sold as scrap metal to recycling companies.
