Groton is a town located in the northeast corner of Tompkins County, New York, United States. The town was formed in 1817 and derived its name from Groton, Massachusetts. The Town of Groton has a village also called Groton. The Groton High School was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994. Groton was in the former Central New York Military Tract and also home to the original Corona Typewriter Company which later joined to form Smith Corona.
