Hoover is a city spread in the Jefferson and Shelby Counties in the state of Alabama. It is Birmingham-Hoover Metro Area, and is the largest suburb of Birmingham. Another major events was the opening of Riverchase Galleria shopping-hotel-office complex.

Public education is administered by Hoover City School District, comprising ten elementary schools, three middle schools, and two high schools. The Birmingham News (daily) and the Over the Mountain Journal (weekly) are the local publications. It also has one local TV station, ABC 33/40.
