Kearny is a small to medium sized town located in the County of Pinal. It has a total area of about 7.3 sq. kms. and located above the sea level by about 1861 ft. On 7th November, 1846, Gen. S. W. Kearny lead a 100 dragoons to California and happened to cross the area which is now named as the city of Kearny. The principal economic activity of the town has gathered the much needed impetus with the help of ASARCO's Hayden Smelter and Ray mine, which is operated by ASARCO. The local education sector is looked after by the Unified school district of Kearny. The local and regional transportation sector also offers some economic oppurtunities to the locals. The Food Stamp Employment and Training Program has economically enhanced the local residents of Kearny.
