Harlan Selesnick, M.D., is a Board-certified orthopedic surgeon with Baptist Health Orthopedic Care and a member of Baptist Health Medical Group, an organization of more than 180 physicians in multiple specialties closely aligned with Baptist Health South Florida. His specialties are arthroscopic surgery, sports medicine and knee-joint replacement surgery. Dr. Selesnick received his medical degree through a six-year honors program in medical education at Northwestern University and completed his residency at the Michael Reese Medical Center. He received additional sports medicine training at Temple University Center for Sports Medicine Science in Philadelphia under the direction of Dr. Ray Moyer, the team physician for the Philadelphia 76ers. Dr. Selesnick has been the team physician for the Miami Heat since 1988. He also served as assistant to Chicago Bulls team physician Dr. H. Bates Noble, and as the team physician for the NBA’s pre-draft rookie camp in 1983 and 1984. He was a team physician for the Miami Marlins in 1985-1988; the Miami Miracle baseball team in 1988-1989; the NBA All-Star game in 1990, 2000 and 2001; the USA Dream Team for the World Basketball Championship in 1998; and the gold medalist USA basketball team at the 2000 Olympics. He was elected NBA Team Physician of the Year for the 2002-2003 season. In addition to the Miami Heat, Dr. Selesnick is currently the team physician for Miami Jai Alai, Dania Jai Alai, Miami Dade College and the Miami Open Tennis Championships. Dr. Selesnick is the first team physician for Inter Miami CF. He is also an independent medical evaluator and consultant for the National Football League and NFL Players Association. Dr. Selesnick is director of the ACGME-accredited Sports Medicine Fellowship sponsored by Doctors Hospital. He has published more than 60 articles and lectured nationally and internationally about arthroscopy, sports medicine and orthopedic surgery.
