A physician trained in anesthesia and preoperative medicine is known as an anesthetist. Such professionals are availble in Middlebury. Usually, this means medicine graduates with a specialization in anesthesiology, however, in certain cases, this may include non-physician personnel such as nurse anesthetist. The latter is a nurse specializing in administration of anesthesia. The physicians need to undergo a number of years of training after a degree in general medicine.
