UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals are consistently ranked among the nation's best children's hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. We have two main campuses serving children and their families – one in Oakland and one in San Francisco – as well as clinics throughout Northern California. Whether we're treating a rare condition or providing a routine checkup, our love of helping kids shines through. With hundreds of doctors from more than 50 medical specialties, we provide care for virtually all pediatric conditions, including orthopedic issues, cancer, heart defects, neurological disorders and traumatic injuries. We are especially proud to be one of the few hospitals in the nation equipped to treat rare and serious illnesses in children.

Emergency Medical Services are provided as out-of-hospital acute medical care. It also includes transport to a specialized care for more serious cases. EMS offered in Oakland are regulated at the most basic level by federal laws. The federal laws set minimum standards for carrying out these services, while individual state governments have laws as well, which are usually for a higher standard than the federal minimum. EMS is provided by volunteers, paramedics, doctors, surgeons and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs).
