STANDARD LISTINGS

Category: Locksmith

Locksmiths are tradespeople who work with all aspects of locks, from those on homes and vehicles to sophisticated lock systems in companies and institutions. Most locksmiths today do electronic lock servicing in addition to offering more traditional services such as making and copying keys, fitting keys to homes and vehicles, changing lock combinations and installing lock-sets on homes and businesses. Whether commercial, mobile, retail (working in a hardware or department store) institutional (employed by a business or government agency) or forensic (dealing with investigations), locksmiths may be certified in specific areas or levels of skill within their trade; certifications issued by manufacturers and trade associations are generally held in higher esteem than general certificates indicating completion of various commercial training courses. Those locksmiths calling themselves "master locksmiths" may or may not have achieved the level of training this designation implies. Although a large number of locksmiths are also security consultants, not all security consultants possess the unique skills required to be locksmiths.
