Sylacauga is a city located in the U.S. state of Alabama. It is within Talladega County 51 miles in southeast Birmingham and 63 miles of Montgomery to the north. Sylacauga total area is 20.41 sq miles at 33°10′42″N 86°15′4″W. It is elevated by 545 feet. The city is also called "The Marble City" and "Alabama’s Best-Kept Secret" because for its fine white marble bedrock. The United States Supreme Court and the Al Jolson Shrine in California are proudly ornamented with Sylacauga marble. Sylacauga was among the "100 Best Communities for Young People" by America's Promise Alliance in 2010. On the recent census, Sylacauga has a total population of 12,540 and population density is approximate 619.23/sq mi. The city of Sylacauga was incorporated in 1838. Zip codes are 35150-35151.
