The city of Tuscaloosa is the county seat of Tuscaloosa County in west central Alabama. It lies along the banks of Black Warrior River at the Atlantic Seaboard fall line of the Piedmont. Tuscaloosa is currently the 5th largest city in Alabama. The city has been recognized as the "Most Livable City in America," one of Americas "100 Best Communities for Young People," throughout the years. On December 13, 1819, it was incorporated as a town which named after Tuskaloosa, the chieftain of a Muskogean-speaking people who battled the Spanish forces in the Battle of Mabila. Tuscaloosa was often called "Druid City" because of plenty water oaks in the vicinity. As of 2010 census, the city had a total population of 90,468 and population density of 1,615.41/sq mi.
