The city of Wales or Kingegan is located in the U.S. state of Alaska. It is part of the Nome Census Area on the western tip of the Seward Peninsula. The total land area is 2.8 square miles at 65°36′44″N 168°05′21″W. It is elevated 26 feet above sea level. Wales education is provided by the Bering Strait School District. The city airflights are made possible by Bering Air and Ravn Alaska going to Nome. A reindeer station was established in the area in 1894 which it became a prominent whaling center due to its location along whale migratory routes. Wales was incorporated on April 16, 1964.
